Ultimately, I think that the author of "Berserk" wrote his book to create a world that is reflective of his own. When you look up the author for this series you will only find about two or three pictures of his face, like, ever. His name is Kentaro Miura, he is a very secretive and isolated individual and he confirmed that be based the character of the protagonist to reflect himself: a dark, yet intricate man that no one understood. Kentaro started writing "Berserk" in college; an especially dark period of his life that was filled with utter seclusion and loneliness, he wouldn't dare to go into detail when asked in the few interviews that he allowed.

New Title

If I were to choose a new title for my book it would probably be "Hell's March". The plot of the book follows a story of the main character and his mercenary crew being sacrificed to the demons of hell; yet he was able to make it out alive and became the sole survivor. However, our main protagonist was branded as sacrifice and thus, even in the real world he is hunted by supernatural beings and monsters. The only way for the hero to save his lover and get revenge for his crew was to slay the five "God Hands"(basically five satans); thus, beginning his march to hell.

P.S the original title is "Berserk".

I would recruit Skull Knight, a sentient skeleton clad in armor that rides on the back of a flying-undead-demon-horse; wielding an impenetrable shield and sword that could cut through reality itself. I am pretty certain you know why I would choose this character as to defend against the zombies; he alone could probably wipe out the whole zombie horde and the rest of humanity.
Though the book series I am following is great, I don't think it could help me fair against an endless horde of reanimated corpses. Unless I am able to craft a great sword the size of 2 fully grown adults and is able to swing it with enough force to slice through trees. Then it would be a different story.
